
Jori S. Beck, PhD, Associate Professor of Secondary Education at Old Dominion University
joined the faculty at Old Dominion University after three years as an assistant professor at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas. In her career so far as a teacher educator, Dr. Beck has been awarded over $1 million in external funding and has published in journals such as Teacher Education Quarterly, The Teacher Educator, and the Journal of Teacher Education. Her work focuses on clinically rich teacher education broadly including foci in Third Space theory, use of data and evidence, teacher leadership, and school-university partnerships with an underlying theme of equity. Dr. Beck primarily specializes in qualitative methods, including case study.
Nelson Mandela
Jori is a staunch advocate and supporter of neighborhood public schools. She is a product of public schools and a first-generation college student.
Jori has won multiple awards for her teaching as well as her efforts to support diversity and inclusion. Relationships are central to her work as a professor.
Jori has published in some of the top journals in her field including Review of Educational Research, Teaching and Teacher Education, and Journal of Teacher Education.
